Ajax Cape Town U19 coach, Maaher Davids, says his team's win in the Metropolitan Premier Cup proves that the Urban Warriors have the best academy in South Africa.

Speaking after his team beat the U19 Mamelodi Sundowns team 1-0 to clinch the cup, Davids had high praise for the foundations laid at the club.“This is a great achievement for the club and it shows that we have the best academy in the country, possibly even in Africa. We weren’t the favourites but we came in and proved everybody wrong,” Davids told Safa's official Facebook account.

“This is always a great event for players to play in and I’d like

to thank the organisers and sponsors, Metropolitan," added Davids.A

delighted Ajax skipper, Yagan Sasman, said his team was overwhelmed to

win the tournament.

"Although we were confident, we didn’t expect to win it but every-

body worked so hard for each other and it worked out great for us,

so I’m just so happy right now,” commented Sasman. As winners, Ajax

received a floating trophy, plus a cheque for R35 000, while Sundowns

received R20 000 for their valiant efforts in making the final.
